you’re not alone

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a shame storm and felt all alone?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s a shame storm? Maybe its drinking a bottle of wine and waking up the next morning feeling like total crap. Or eating that whole chocolate cake and making yourself sick. Or yelling at your kids when you promised you would do better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the midst of feeling like total garbage, you start to shame yourself and say horrible things like, “I should be better, I should do better, I’m a horrible Mom, I’m sure no other Mom’s act like I do, I’m the worse person ever, there is no hope for me.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sound familiar? Shame. Storms. Suck. And what’s even worse is when you’re in it ALONE.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was something I struggled with for years as I battled my addiction with alcohol. I thought I was the only Mom who drank too much. I thought I was the only Mom who couldn’t control her wine intake. I beat myself up, all alone, all the time, and it was crippling you guys.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what I discovered when I started to get help was that not only was I NOT alone, I was surrounded by so many other Moms who thought they were alone too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. — You. Are. Not. Alone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whatever it is you’re shaming yourself for, some other Mom is out there doing the exact same thing. You’re not alone in your struggle. We’re all struggling with something, and we’re all doing the best we can.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m here with you. She’s here with you. You’re a good Mom and you’re a good person. There is hope for change, I promise. Keep working at it, don’t give up, and never feel like you can’t reach out for help. I’m with you sweet friends.
