“You will always be my pretty little girl.”

If you’re in the mood for a riveting suspenseful thriller, be sure to add Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter to your reading list. This book takes you down a dark and unexpected spiral, leaving you guessing until the very end. Don’t read this one alone in the dark!
After eighteen years, Claire Scott is still married to the love of her life. Paul Scott is a successful architect and provides everything for Claire. Even $36,000 Tiffany diamond earrings. Until one night a robbery gone wrong changes everything. Nothing is as it seems for Claire. She discovers her entire life is not only a sham, but a dangerous web of lies that could destroy her and her family.
“Claire had realized a long time ago that if you lie with enough conviction, you can usually fool yourself.”
Claire must move forward, falling further down the rabbit whole, as her whole life unwinds.
“People did not change their basic, core personalities. Their values tended to stay the same. Their personal demeanors. Their world outlook and political beliefs. One need only to go to a high school reunion to verify the theory.”
“…because if a man rejects a woman, she goes home and cries for a few days. If a woman rejects a man, he can rape and kill her.”
This book is a nail biting thriller that you won’t be able to put down. I did not expect it to be as dark as it was, but it made for an excellent story. I was literally scared to death reading it at night by myself. At one point the phone rang, and I nearly jumped out of my seat! Have you read this one? What did you think?
