“You have all the magic you need.” – My Little Pony – The Movie

My daughter (age 7) and I finally got a chance to go see My Little Pony – The Movie. She was so excited, but I have to admit, I was not. Now don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my princess, and I LOVE movies, but I was not expecting much from the Pony Squad. I’ve seen the Friendship is Magic TV series and it’s not that exciting.

So let me just say how surprised I was after seeing this movie. It was REALLY GOOD!

If you haven’t heard much about it, here is the quick synopsis from the Web: “Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity embark on an epic journey to save Ponyville from a dark force.”

My Little Pony – The Movie has ALL. THE. FEELS.

My daughter and me laughed, cried, worried, were motivated, inspired, excited, and overall just happy. This is such a GIRL POWER movie!

It is full of inspiring messages about friendship, overcoming hardship, believing in yourself, never giving up and loving yourself for who you are.

We loved it!

My daughter stayed engaged throughout the entire movie. I was concerned the “dark force” would be too scary for her, but the comedic relief helped smooth over any scary scenes, creating just the right amount of suspense for little ones. There is really nothing inappropriate to mention in the film. Just good clean fun.

Sia has a wonderful song in the movie as well. The soundtrack is really good, my daughter loved all of the songs!

If you’re looking for a fun date with your girls, definitely go see this movie while it’s still in theaters. My boys (ages 9 & 10) did ask me to go see it too (don’t tell them I told you that), but I think they can catch this one on Pay-Per-View. After they watch it, I’ll let you know what they thought 😉

Have you seen My Little Pony – The Movie yet? Let me know what you thought!
