new favorites – kids lunches with 100 days of real food

When the New Year started I decided enough is enough with so much processed food. Especially with my kids. I was completely slacking when it came to their lunches and they weren’t even eating half the food I made for them. I went to the Internet in search for help and stumbled upon a wonderful Website, 100 Days of Real Food.

100 Days of Real food is amazing! You have to check it out. She does all kinds of things on her Website, including a 14 week mini pledge program where she helps you only eat real food by giving you the meal plans to follow. If you sign up to follow her blog via email, she will email you four meal plans that same day! I did this and the meal plans were awesome. She also has a whole slew of recipes to try. Read below for the ones I’ve tried and loved!

My favorite part of the 100 Days of Real Food is the school lunch box ideas. She has tons and tons of pictures of ideas for lunches made with real food. She also has different products she recommends to make the perfect lunch. The best thing about the pictures is that you can have your kids scroll through them with you and pick out the stuff they are willing to try. I did this and my kids loved seeing the things they picked out inside their lunch box.

Below are some of the lunches I made after being inspired by her ideas.

Left over taco night made a great lunch the next day.  Chicken bits were from the Whole Chicken in a Crock Pot recipe. I used a whole grain tortilla warmed in the morning. The kids loved this for lunch and making their own tacos.

The homemade chicken nuggets were so easy and taste amazing. For 100 Days of Real Food’s recipe click here. I made my own bread crumbs for the nuggets too. Click here for that recipe.

I froze my leftover chili in mason jars as suggested on the 100 Days of Real food Website. The night before I thawed the chili and then it was ready to reheat and pack the next morning. I bought this Food Jar at HEB.

Freezing the smoothies in these reusable pouches works great! I just pack it in their lunch in the morning and by lunch time it is chilled and ready to enjoy. My kids love it! I found these pouches at my local HEB in the baby food section. However they have tons of options for popsicle molds on Amazon as well.

I made this tortilla soup from 100 Days of Real Food Recipe and it was delicious. I froze it in mason jars and served it for lunch for all three of my kids. They loved it!

For my kids that don’t each their sandwiches, I tried doing a ham and cheese rollup with fun toothpicks. They loved it and were so excited about the toothpicks. Who knew a toothpick could make all the difference?

My smoothie recipe pretty much stays the same. My kids like it so I don’t want to reinvent the wheel. The only other variation I do is to add a banana, or try using coconut milk instead of regular milk. I buy a really good liquid D3 and also a Vitamin C powder that I add as well. You can find these at your local health food store.

Some of the dinner recipes that I have tried from her Website are:

Whole Chicken in a Crock Pot plus the Chicken Stock and then the Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Chicken Enchiladas

Best Pulled Pork in a Crock Pot

Easy Walnut Crusted Salmon

Tortilla Soup

Let me know if you have tried this Website! What did you think?

  1. I love all these ideas. I’m definitely going to try the tacos for lunch! My kids love this smoothie mix in their pouches: handful of organic spinach, almond/coconut milk blend, vanilla protein powder, banana, pineapple and mango. We call it the ALOHA VERDE.

    1. Oh yeah thanks for the Aloha Verde recipe! We will try that one for sure. Drew said his taco was a little messy, haha, but he loved it.
