“I love how she sees ’em Bobby.” – A Star Is Born

I didn’t know if I wanted to see this movie, but I am so glad I did. The trailer aired for months before every movie I saw in the theater, and, while I do love Bradley Cooper, I didn’t understand his character in the trailer.

Here is the synopsis from the Web:

Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

After seeing the film, I am still in between on Bradley Cooper’s character, but Lady Gaga rocks it! She is such a talented and beautiful singer! I love all of the music in the film.

I also really loved the authenticity of the characters and the writing. The characters didn’t do exactly what I wanted them to, which is nice in a real-life sort of way. This film is about always being your most authentic self, which I can appreciate in a world where media and sales drive people to do things that aren’t true to their values.

Cooper’s character preaches about writing and speaking from the heart. I LOVE this quote – “Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. So you got to grab it, and you don’t apologize, and you don’t worry about why they’re listening, or how long they’re going to be listening for, you just tell them what you want to say. Don’t you understand what I’m trying to tell you?”

I think this movie is worth a trip to the theater. The acting is superb and the portrayal of 2018 music culture will make this film iconic for the ages.
