“I am no longer just a girl on the train, going back and forth without point or purpose.”

Get this book back off the shelf! If you are like me, and so many other friends I know, you may be stuck on the first chapter of this book. I started this book, made it to page 5, and stopped for a month! Not until a good friend convinced me to keep reading did I pick the book back up. And I am glad I did!
The book has a slow beginning but the ending is well worth the wait. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is about three modern women who have very real struggles with daily life and their “so called” expectations.
Megan – “I can’t do this, I can’t just be a wife. I don’t understand how anyone does it – there is literally nothing to do but wait. Wait for a man to come home and love you. Either that or look around for something to distract you.”
Rachel – “I’m not beautiful, and I can’t have kids, so what does that make me? Worthless.”
At some point in this book you are going to want to shake these women back into reality. The book takes you down twists and turns of what is actually happening and what the women believe to be true. It is a thriller, suspenseful and mysterious and the ending is very surprising.
Best part of all? They are making it into a movie! The release date is October 7, 2016. An even better reason to start reading it again, or for the first time. The cast is outstanding. Emily Blunt as Rachel, Rebecca Ferguson as Anna, and Haley Bennett as Megan.

I listened to the audio book and have to admit I wasn’t overly keen. I don’t know if the narration put me off but I just didn’t like any of the characters and therefore didn’t particularly care what happened. Maybe the film will be better.
I can see how the audio may have thrown the story off. It was hard to get into the book, but I finally was able to get hooked. Try the movie! And maybe try reading instead.
I have heard so many good things about this book! My mom also had a hard time getting through the first chapter but after hearing so many positive things, I’m definitely adding it to my summer reading list!
Let me know what you think! It’s really good!
