“Everyone knows that the Smallfoot isn’t real.” – Smallfoot

We saw this movie as a family on Saturday night and we all really enjoyed it. My husband and I had mixed views going into it — he was expecting it to be the next Moana, and I was not expecting much.
I think Smallfoot landed somewhere in the middle. It was most definitely not the next Moana, but I was overall pleasantly surprised.
The movie is chalked full of big stars such as Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, and LeBron James; and they all deliver stellar performances. I just love James Corden, he is so hilarious, and adds so much humor to the film.
In case you haven’t heard of Smallfoot, here is the synopsis from the Web and the trailer from YouTube.
Migo is a friendly Yeti whose world gets turned upside down when he discovers something that he didn’t know existed — a human. He soon faces banishment from his snowy home when the rest of the villagers refuse to believe his fantastic tale. Hoping to prove them wrong, Migo embarks on an epic journey to find the mysterious creature that can put him back in good graces with his simple community.
Smallfoot is the perfect Saturday night family film. There is nothing inappropriate for children, just good quality clean fun. Which is nice! The Yeti’s are far from scary and I think this film would be great for even the smallest movie goer.
What I loved most was the humor. The exploding giggles in the theater made me laugh and they were such a joy to hear. There is not a lot of adult comedy in this film, but I still laughed and laughed at the witty jokes.
There is a strong message of Integrity in the film, which is great, and also how it relates to social media and getting “likes” at any cost. This message is great for children and also adults. Another message in Smallfoot is that its okay to question ideas and test boundaries even when it is scary, because living the truth is always better than living a lie.
My kids all loved this movie. No, it isn’t a billion dollar box office Disney flick, but it is definitely worth taking the whole family to for some quality laughs, entertaining songs, and inspirational messaging.
