let’s talk marketing

online marketing advice

Okay friends, here’s the deal. You know how some people are born to play the piano? Like, they find one at four years old and just know they are supposed to play. They dream about the piano, take lessons, study it in college, and somehow end up talking about the piano in every conversation.

Well, that’s how marketing is for me. Yes, I did not get the piano gene, I got the marketing gene, LOL.

I know marketing. It’s a natural instinct of mine. When I see anything, I know how to sell it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not a sales person. I did not get those genes. No, what I’m talking about is different.

It’s marketing.

It’s how to sell something, not actually selling it, and YES there is a difference.

I have a natural instinct to tell you how to reach your target audience, or how to create your brand, or how to create beautiful images to get your product in front of your audience. If you tell me your business, I can sum it up in about twenty minutes with an entire online marketing campaign and I can tell you what to say, when to say it, who to say it to, and how to follow up. Most of the time I’m doing this in my head, LOL.

This instinct of mine has always been a part of me. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing, and I’ve worked in the marketing field both for a corporation and in my own personal endeavors. Since starting my blog, Pages & Lace, I’ve continued to educate myself in the online marketing field, learning cutting edge information. This is an ongoing goal of mine, and I’m reading, listening to podcasts, and taking online classes in real time to learn everything about marketing in today’s world.

My last full scale marketing campaign was for my first novel, Silent All These Years. If you follow me on social, you saw this campaign unfold. You can see examples today on T.A. Massa Writes and some of the images below. I created the entire marketing plan months before releasing my novel, and you know what — it worked. Also, it was the most fun I’ve had in years! And YES, I’m definitely going to keep writing! My second novel is in the works now, and I hope to publish in the Fall of 2019.

When something feels this natural, you grow a passion for it. My passion has always been small business marketing, and more specifically, woman owned small business marketing

In moving forward I would like to talk more about this on my blog and on my social media. I want to teach you what I know, share my insights, and help you market whatever it is you want to show the world. In teaching you, I’m going to be continuing to educate myself, and growing in my skills.

I want to help you! Talking about marketing gets me out of bed in the morning. It fuels my fire. Adding this to my blog seems like the next natural step for me. I’m super pumped!

marketing advice

Now, think of this:

If you hear the word marketing, what do you think of first?

I hate it.

It’s scary.

I need a professional.

I can’t sell myself.

It feels sleazy.

I don’t want to bother people.

Trust me, I totally get it. Marketing can feel like all of these things, BUT it doesn’t have to. A successful marketing campaign should feel like this:

I love it.

This is easy.

I can totally do this.

I’m sharing what I love with people I love.

This feels natural.

People love this!

And the ultimate result…

I’m GROWING.
