“We’re in the end game now.” – Avengers Infinity War

**SPOILER FREE**
We took our boys, ages ten and eleven, to see Avengers Infinity War and —wow— what a movie! I’m sure you have probably heard by now that Avengers Infinity War broke the record of the biggest opening weekend ever.
According to CNN, “Avengers Infinity War brought in an estimated $258.2 million domestically this weekend. That makes it the biggest opening weekend ever, edging out the $248 million that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” made in 2015. (CNN)
This movie is definitely the most intense of all the Avengers’ films.
Here is the synopsis from the Web:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
Before rushing to see this movie you will want to watch the other Avengers’ films for the backstory. Yes, it is possible to see this movie without watching the other films—but—if you want the full experience you really need to know what is going on.
Avengers Infinity War is TEN years in the making and started in 2008 with Iron Man.
Below are the other films you need to watch. If you were to skip any I would say Ant Man (2015) and if there are any you MUST watch I would say all of Phase Three minus Spider-Man Homecoming (2016).
1 Phase One
1.1 Iron Man (2008)
1.2 The Incredible Hulk (2008)
1.3 Iron Man 2 (2010)
1.4 Thor (2011)
1.5 Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
1.6 Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)
2 Phase Two
2.1 Iron Man 3 (2013)
2.2 Thor: The Dark World (2013)
2.3 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
2.4 Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
2.5 Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
2.6 Ant-Man (2015)
3 Phase Three
3.1 Captain America: Civil War (2016)
3.2 Doctor Strange (2016)
3.3 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
3.4 Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
3.5 Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
3.6 Black Panther (2018)
3.7 Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
As I said, we saw this movie with our boys and I really want to see it again without them. Most of the movie I was more concerned if they were going to be okay than I was with watching the movie. There are a lot of death scenes including dead heroes, plus pretty frightening aliens, and all out WAR. So intense!
My ten year old was fine throughout the movie. My eleven year old (who can be more sensitive to over stimulation and high drama) needed to get up and walk around a few times. He would leave and then come right back for fear of missing anything. I think he just needed a breather because of the high intensity and he did mention he was afraid of having nightmares, although neither of them did.
I will say there is a spoiler preview at the VERY END of all of the credits, and there are a lot of them. So if you are patient enough to wait, the brief clip is worth waiting for.
